New Faculty Member – Peng Yuan, Ph.D.

Dr.  Peng Yuan will join the Department of Cell Biology and Physiology as an Assistant Professor on 9/1/13.  Dr. Yuan comes to WU from Rockefeller University in New York, where he engaged in postdoctoral training under the direction of Dr. Roderick MacKinnon.  His research focuses the structure and function of the eukaryotic SLO family of potassium channels, including BK channels, using multidisciplinary approaches such as X-ray, crystallography, biochemistry and electrophysiology.  Dr. Yuan obtained his PhD In biochemistry and molecular biophysics from the University of Pennsylvania.  Dr. Yuan is a joint recruit by the Center for the Investigation of Membrane Excitability Diseases (CIMED) and the Department of Cell Biology and Physiology.  His research space will be in the BJC Institute for Health on the 9th floor in CIMED.
